A FAREWELL MESSAGE FROM VILLA HERMOSA, December 2010
We wish to thank the many fans of our award-winning Villa Hermosa Cellars Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon who have bought, cellared, enjoyed, gifted, and promoted our wines. It has been our pleasure to have met many of you personally as you have stopped by to see our beautiful vineyards – the source of the incredible grapes that make our wines – for yourselves!
Of course, a huge thanks goes to our wonderful winemaker, Andy Schweiger of Schweiger Family Vineyards, who is terrific at his chosen craft and an all-around great guy! However, as Andy himself once told us in giving credit to the wonderful grapes from our vineyards, “It’s easy to make bad wine from good grapes, but I can’t make good wine from bad grapes!”. For those of you who have not met Andy, we highly recommend you stop by Schweiger Family Vineyards on Spring Mountain, St. Helena, next time you are in the Napa Valley. We have fallen in love with the whole Schweiger family, not to mention their lovely wines, and predict that you will too!
We are thrilled to say that Villa Hermosa Cellars wines from all vintages are completely sold out and have been for several months! To those of you fortunate enough to have some in your possession, we wish you good health and good cheer as you enjoy them!
Unfortunately for our many fans, there will be no further vintages bottled under the Villa Hermosa Cellars name. Due to a need to focus on our health, we have chosen to return to the original business model under which we planted our vineyards back in 2001, which was to grow and sell the best possible Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. We never intended to make wine under our own label – it just sort of happened! Regardless, we are so thankful for the experience and many wonderful friends we made on both sides of the wine industry – producers and consumers. It has been an amazing experience for which we are very grateful!
